Muhammad Iqbal Bahoo, is a Pakistani singer. He was born in Gurdaspur, Punjab, India, but migrated to Pakistan after Independence, and settled in Lahore. Iqbal Bahu mastered the Sufi tradition of the well-known Sufi saint Sultan Bahu. He sung many Sufi songs for Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television and was awarded the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz honor by the Government of Pakistan in 2008
Tamgha-i-Imtiaz which translates as the medal of excellence, is fourth highest honor given by the Government of Pakistan to both the military and civilians. It is awarded for distinguished merit in the fields of literature, arts, sports, medicine, or science for civilians. Once a year it is announced on the Independence Day and given on Pakistan Day to the people of Pakistan by the President of Pakistan. For those in the military it is given after distinguished service and is also the highest medal award that can be awarded to those at the rank of Colonel.
