Our Base Camp project held its Funding Spectacular on the 11th March, bringing together big names funders like the Lottery and over 100 community and voluntary groups. As well as helping groups to find new sources of funding and get funding advice the event featured inspirational presentations by Vital Steps and Ujaala, two of the groups supported by Base Camp. Jon Collins, Leader of Nottingham City Council, was guest speaker at the event
Groups got chance to sit and talk one to one with major funders including the Heritage Lottery fund, the Big Lottery fund, the Charity Bank, NDC and the Nottinghamshire Community Foundation. Plus, they got the opportunity to network with over 100 community groups.
including dford Sure Start Children’s Centre, Nottingham Council for Voluntary Service (NCVS) and Radio Dawn.
Two members of Ujaala, a group which supports women who are victims of domestic violence, gave a moving presentation about their work. Whilst Vital Steps talked about their work offering young people the chance to learn different types of music. Vital Steps also performed at the event.
A big thank you to all those who volunteered and helped to make the Funding Spectacular a success, particularly Lyn, Mick and Katina from the Skills Exchange.
Some comments and feed back
Hi Syed,
It was good to meet with you at the Basecamp Spectacular.I thought it was a good event, well attended with a decent and diverse range of groups. These were groups that we often don’t see at standard funding fairs we attend and for this the event deserves much kudos. I was kept busy throughout the day with enquiries and my throat was sore by the end – always the sign of a good event!
